Welcome to the 2nd Quarter!

Welcome back students and welcome to the 2nd quarter of 2022!  If you are like me, you are super excited to get back to creating  and producing some great music!  Before we go any further, let’s take this time to welcome our new Operations Manger of the Topeka branch of the Jubal Art House, Da’Vaun Elrod. He is a native of Topeka and a professional singer.  To find out more about him click here to read his bio. We look forward to all of the passion and experience that he brings to the table and most importantly, his love for reaching out to the youth of Topeka. 

Starting in June and continuing on through out the calendar year, be on the look out for more social posts and new merchandise. We have big plans on updating the website and creating more ways to stay in touch with the students, parent, donors, and sponsors. We also want to recognize three very important events happening in the month of June. This month we are celebrating Black Music Appreciation Month, Pride Month, and the 19th is Junteenth.  As Kool & the Gang said long ago, “Let’s all celebrate and have a good time!”

This Quarters Lesson Plan: For all of our students that are in the 2nd quarter, we will be deep diving in to the mechanics of our instrument, the MPK mini. Music Theory, as always, will still be a focus for us, however, we will spend more time on getting familiar with the ins and outs of the operation and manipulation of the MPK in a controlled environment as well as from a live performance aspect. Our three month goal is to be able to produce a song and also be able to recreate that song in a live atmosphere.
